It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jana Lynn Deschamps, who left us far too soon. Jana was born on November 19, 1970, in North Battleford, SK, to Dianne Louise Deschamps (Fosseneuve) and Joseph Raymond Deschamps. The youngest of five sisters, she grew up with Cheryl (Sandy), Rae, Leah (deceased), and Elaine (Pat), always holding a special place in their hearts. She also shared a special sibling bond with her nephew, Stephen, who was like a younger brother to her.
Jana was a loving mother to her two children, Stephanie Melissa Lybeck (Brandon) and Michael Riley Hayes-Deschamps. She was also a proud grandmother to Casey Hayes-Deschamps and Caleb Lybeck, with another grandchild on the way in July. Her family was deeply important to her, and she carried that love with her always.
Jana had an incredible artistic talent, creating breathtaking murals and drawings, often portraying Indigenous Chiefs and figures with striking beauty and depth. Her artwork reflected the soul of someone who saw the world in vivid color, even through the hardships she endured.
Life was not easy for Jana. She faced struggles from a young age and battled addiction throughout her life. Despite this, she was kind, had a sharp and funny sense of humor, and never stopped loving those closest to her. She was a survivor, a fighter, and a woman who, despite her pain, left behind memories that will be cherished forever.
Jana's journey was filled with challenges, but it was also filled with love. She will be remembered for her resilience, her creativity, and the deep love she had for her family and friends.
