Johnnie Michael Smith

Johnnie Michael Smith, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan passed away accidently at the age of 55 years at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on June 1, 2016. Johnnie was born March 19, 1961 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan to Andrew and Pauline Smith of Hafford, Saskatchewan, the 3rd of 7 children. He was brought up his first years at Hafford, Saskatchewan and then the family moved to Estevan and then to Saskatoon.He began working for the CNR in Saskatoon in 1978 and was with them for 27 years. Johnnie married Sharilyn Just on March 8th, 1980 and together they had a son, Michael Carl. Johnnie retired from the CNR after 27 years and worked for property management in the maintenance department until his early retirement. Johnnie’s hobby for many years has been working on vehicles – he was a terrific mechanic and his garage in his back yard became his workplace! Johnnie’s love in the past few years was rebuilding his 1986 GMC Sierra Classic Shortbox truck. Johnnie was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family, relatives and friends. Johnnie was predeceased by his father, Andrew Smith, a sister Connie in infancy and his brother Carl. He is survived by Sharilyn his beloved wife of 36 years; his son Michael (Stacey); grandchildren Dante, Dawson and Dorian. He is also survived by his mother Pauline Smith, sisters Rose Coroy (Gord), Donna Goertzen (Brian), brothers Donnie Smith and Curtis Smith (Karen) and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
