Rocchina Antonia Frassetto
January 17, 1948 - May 22, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mama, nonna, and friend, Rocchina Frassetto (nee Lorenzo). We take great comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband of 42 years, Armando Frassetto, whom she married November 30, 1968.
Rocchina and Armando leave behind their children, Angelo (Kim); Gino (Michelle); Donna-Marie (Michael); and the special children-of-their-hearts, Patrick and Rhoda. Rocchina was a proud nonna to Juliana (Cole), Olivia, Ashton, Nadia, Gino, Vittoria, Jace, Francesca, Gianna, and to the special grandchildren-of-her-heart, Rockina, Gabriel, Emily, and Soraya. Rocchina also leaves behind her sister, Carmela (Wilf), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada, Belgium and Italy.
Rocchina was welcomed home into the heavenly kingdom by her husband, Armando; parents, Saverio and Maria Donata; sister, Eleonora; brother-in-law, Steve; brother-in-law, Marcello; sister-in-law, Tecla; nephew Dennis; and great nephew, Jordan.
Rocchina was born in Castelmezzano, Italy. Along with her parents and sisters, she moved to Belgium during her early childhood. In 1957, when Rocchina was nine years old, the family immigrated to Canada in hopes of a better life; Saskatoon became their home.
Rocchina was generous and compassionate in all the endeavours of her life. She had many pursuits including being a candy striper in high school, a stay-at-home mom, musician manager, and she eventually settled into her vocation as an outreach worker with Saskatoon’s Healthy Mother, Healthy Baby Program. Rocchina was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish, and a passionate community volunteer with a great interest in multiculturalism. She enjoyed gardening, musical theatre, and cooking Italian food. Most importantly, Rocchina spent many happy times alongside her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends at their legacy family cabin at Cochin, Jackfish Lake.
In the later years of her life, Rocchina faced many complex health conditions with strength and grace. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the healthcare workers involved with her care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rocchina’s memory to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation.
Vigil of Prayer for Rocchina will be held Thursday evening, May 26 at 7:00 PM. The Divine Liturgy will be Friday, May 27 at 11:00 AM. Both services will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
