Obituary of Elizabeth Baumgardner

Elizabeth Baumgardner (Gelowitz), a long-time resident of Saskatoon, passed away in the early morning on Tuesday June 6, 2017. She was born February 8, 1926 in Grayson, Sask to Wilhelm and Anna Gelowitz, the sixth of seven children. After attending Teacher’s College (then referred to as Normal School) during 1949 and 1950, she obtained her first teaching position at Smoky Hills School seven miles north of Pierceland. On August 6, 1951 she married Kelly Baumgardner in Pierceland, Sask where they lived until 1957. Following this move two more children (Joan and Patrick) were born thus completing their family. While at home she enjoyed gardening, reading, dancing and taking a keen interest in her family. In later years she and Kelly enjoyed spending winters in Arizona, ballroom dancing, and watching Bluejays baseball. She was predeceased by her parents, all six of her siblings and her husband of 65 years, Kelly, who passed on June 21, 2016.
