Alma Coble

Obituary of Alma Coble

On Sunday, October 25, 2015, Mom completed her journey on earth and quietly slipped away to rejoin her beloved husband, Stan, in God’s heavenly garden. She is survived by daughters Linda (Tim Penney) in Oromocto, NB, and Diane (Blake Kendall) in Winnipeg, MB, and son Dale (Jackie) in Bon Accord, AB; grandchildren Disa, Barbara, Erik, Amy, Tara, Dawn and Sean; great grandchildren Courtney, Justin, Jessie, Aurelia, Noal and Ellis. There are also numerous nieces and nephews and their families across Canada. Alma proudly carried the titles of daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was the youngest child and only girl of six children born to Adolph and Josephine (nee Jackson) Von Zuben of Toronto, all of whom predeceased her. Mom moved to Saskatoon as Stan’s bride in 1947, celebrated 56 years of wedded bliss and encouraged her children to excel in life. She always remembered important family dates, sending cards and letters to family and friends for all occasions. Alma loved to travel and enjoyed trips around the world with her children. She was skilled at knitting, often creating her own patterns and gifting her beautiful sweaters to lucky recipients. Privately she liked to write poetry that reflected her love of nature and family. For a brief time she worked in retail and for Canada Post. In 2010, Alma moved to Winnipeg where she enjoyed many family visits and outings. She was especially fond of the small-town country fairs held throughout Manitoba. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Extendicare Oakview Place who provided exceptional care and compassion for mom during her final years. Angels are watching over you, Wings wrapped gently around you, Whispering you are loved and blessed. Angel blessing
