Obituary of Gabriel Aubichon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gabriel (Gabe) Aubichon on June 16, 2016 at Parkridge Care Centre in Saskatoon. Gabe passed away peacefully at the age 82. He was a Metis Korean War Veteran and is well respected by the Metis Nation and his country for his service and for his commitment to community. Gabriel was born on February 23, 1934 in Green Lake, Saskatchewan to Tony and Philomene Aubichon. At the age of 17 he went to the Korean War. After returning, he met his wife Eva Morin and they lived their lives many years together. Gabe had many friends and was a very caring, humorous man. He always loved to talk about the war and what he had experienced. He was also a sociable man and loved visiting and walking around with his many friends. Gabe was predeceased by his common law wife Eva Morin and by his sisters Cecile Ross, Annette Lafond and Melvina (Molly) Redhead. He will be sadly missed by his Sisters Agnes Miller (Jim), Yvonne Marie Lafond, Elizabeth Star, his brother - Johnny Aubichon and several nieces and nephews. Having lived a good life, Gabe loved to participate in community cultural events and on his journey, he has met several friends who will miss him for his participation in the community.

Funeral

A Wake for Gabe will be held starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Guadalupe Parish ( 426 Ave J S) with Prayer Services at 7:30 p.m. at Guadalupe Parish. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Parish (20th Street and Avenue 0).
