Obituary of Ede Burge

Ede Rose Burge (Getzlaf) Nee Usselman 1937 - 2016 Ede’s family wishes to announce her passing at the age of 79 years on Sunday October 23, 2016. Ede was born on April 29, 1937. One of seven children born to John and Francis Usselman . She grew up on the family farm until she moved to Saskatoon at the tender age of 16 . Ede was always proud of having skipped a grade in school but was also told how young it made her when she went to Saskatoon to attend Saskatoon Business College. She married Jake Getzlaf in 1957. They were blessed with four children and had a colorful and eventful life operating their own touring midway Funtime Amusements along with Leisureland Amusement Park also Dickie Dee Ice Cream carts and various concessions in Saskatoon such as the one at Kinsmen Park. Their time was cut short when Ede was widowed in 1979. Ede continued to support the family with her business acumen holding positons in the retail sector and later with bookkeeping for the Baldwin Hotel and managing a lottery booth in the Confederation Park Mall. Ede always took great pride in doing a meticulous and efficient job . Ede was a very caring mother. A caregiver at heart. She saw to all the needs of her children and was always available to them. Her caring nature was evident with the loving care of her parents- in-law (Jacob and Catherine Getzlaf) in their last years. Ede leaves behind to cherish her memories many friends and family. Children Jack Getzlaf, Lorna (Philip) Sather, Danny (Linda) Getzlaf, Cindy Lou (Rob) Briggs. Grandchildren Tessa and Talia Mitchell-Getzlaf, Codee Cornish, Angela (Cy ) Lenz and her great grandsons Zane and Axel Lenz. Sisters Eva Senger, Barb Deichert, Elsie (Ron) Senger and brothers Eddie Usselman and Leo (Lorraine) Usselman and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Jake Getzlaf, sister Jenny Graves, brothers- in-law Ray Graves, Otto Senger, Casper Deichert and sister- in-law Veronica Usselman. Funeral

A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at Westwood Funeral Chapel (1402 20th St West). Interment will follow at 1:00 pm in Woodlawn Cemetery.
