 RICHARD (DICK) STUART DOUGAN

December 13, 1937 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
August 3rd, 2021 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Dick Dougan of Saskatoon SK, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 at the age of 83 years.
Family values, hard work and living with integrity were instilled in Dick throughout his life. These qualities were passed on to his sons and their families. He was a strong man, willing to stand up for what was right, and always had time to help friends and family (between crib games of course!).

Dick met Laurie Hepp and was married on June 2, 1962. He had a career with the City of Saskatoon for 38 years until his retirement in 2002. Together with Laurie, they created a loving environment for their family, their extended families and their friends, with a home that always made one feel welcome.
Dick was always available to provide a helping hand, no matter how late or inconvenient and could make a tedious or difficult job enjoyable with his unique sense of humour, and his deep and contagious laugh.  Although his favourite time was with his family, Dick was also a proud Irishman, and his busy and fulfilled life was highlighted by a trip with Laurie back to Ireland in 2002.

Dick loved spending time with his grandchildren. Some of his favourite things were to take them swimming, to Kinsmen Park and on road trips to the lake. He taught them all to play crib and ALWAYS made sure to steal their points they didn’t take. No one could make an ice cream cone as good as he could and he always told the best leprechaun stories! He was always just a phone call away and would always pick them up whenever they needed a ride!
He was an amazing and very proud dad and grandfather and we will miss him a lot. We love you!

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff and caregivers at Extendicare for the excellent daily care and comfort they provided Dick.

Dick is survived by his wife, Laurie of 59 years; three sons, Douglas (Jodie) in San Diego, Darren (Jeanette), Dean (Aleksandra), all of Saskatoon; Grandchildren, Kirsten (Jordan), Sean, Ava, Ella & Sam and great grandchildren Greyson and Gunner; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
Dick will also be greatly missed by sister Alice, special family friends Bill Webster (Della),and  Melva Richmond; his brother in laws, Richard (Mira), Ken (Marilyn) and Brian (Linda); sister in law Linda (Brian) plus extended family and friends.
Dick was predeceased by his parents, Eugenie Anne Marie and William Burton; sisters, Marion and Kathleen ; and brothers,  Fred,  Gerry, Tony,  Donny, & Burt and special friend George Richmond.

A Private Funeral Service will be held at a later date for family members with a special celebration of Dick’s life to be planned when travel and COVID restrictions are lifted.
