Rosina Hicke

Obituary of Rosina Joy Hicke

December 4, 1938 – November 27, 2023

On Monday, November 27th, our little mum, Rosina Joy Hicke, took her last breath just shy of her 85th birthday (although she would hate that we are disclosing her age). This feisty woman was not only our mother, but the matriarch of the Hicke family. Having raised us three girls, Susan (Rod), Sandra (Peter) and Sherry (Larry), mum was strong willed with a quick wit, and even though she was unable to verbally communicate over these past few months, her candid facial expressions told you everything she was feeling and everything you needed to know.

Rosina has gone to join her husband, our dad, of more than six decades, Phillip (we’re sure he had a cold beer waiting for her), but leaves to grieve sister-in-law Phyllis, brother-in-law Clifford, her grandchildren Nathan (Leone), Breanne, Holly (Mike), Sheena, Gillian (Nathan), Shea (Lauren) and Ty, many great grandchildren, and wonderful friends.

We will always cherish the memories created over Sunday dinners, and during our family road trips, summers at the lake and warm holidays together. Until we meet again sweet mum, please remember these song lyrics (Maroon 5),There's a time that I remember, when I did not know no pain; When I believed in forever, and everything would stay the same; Now my heart feel like December when somebody say your name; 'Cause I can't reach out to call you, but I know I will one day”.

We sincerely thank the team and residents of Porteous Lodge for making these past few months a much easier transition – we will be forever grateful for your care and support to both mum and our family. We also wish to recognize and sincerely thank dear friends and neighbors Dennis and Jan Morgan, who always treated mum and dad like family.

A celebration of life will take place the summer of 2024.

In lieu of flowers, we request that a donation be made in Rosina’s (mum’s) name to Porteous Lodge, 833 Avenue P North, Saskatoon SK S7L 2W5
